Flanders Foal Auction ready for Equestrian Cup: ‘Even stronger pedigrees’
Flanders Foal Auction always aims for the highest quality, but when you are invited to organize a foal auction during the brand new CSI4* show the Equestrian Cup in Moerzeke, you certainly present something exceptional. The Equestrian Cup will be all about class and luxury for riders and visitors and this will also be reflected in the auction evening on Saturday, July 22 at the showgrounds of Sea Coast Stables of Gudrun Patteet and Alain Cloet.
Flanders Foal Auction has selected 37 jumping foals with all the right ingredients from A to Z. A promising pedigree, fantastic conformations and an athletic way of moving. “We expect a lot from this collection”, Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts state. “The organization seeks quality and the breeders have presented us their very best foals.”
During the first Flanders Auction of the 2023 season, the collection was rewarded with an average price of 24,300 euros. “The first collection consisted of fantastic foals, but I believe this time the pedigrees are even stronger”, Gerald Lenaerts assures. “One thing is certain: if a stallion stud owner can’t find anything in this collection, they can’t find it anywhere.”
Among the collection are all kinds of stallion and top sport prospects, including some exclusive sons of Heartbreaker. For example, one Heartbreaker colt was bred from the dam of multiple medal collector H&M All In; another was bred out of the same dam as the world-famous Emerald van ‘t Ruytershof. And what about the Chacco Blue colt out of 1.50m showjumping mare Kirby de Muze (sired by Nabab de Rêve). “We auctioned two embryos out of Kirby already; sold for respectively 90,000 and 82,000 euros. In September, a Emerald daughter out of Kirby de Muze was auctioned in an another auction for 300,000 euros.”
The fillies will also demand plenty of attention. The 1.60m Grand Prix mare Sterrehof’s Ushi for example; she produced a filly by Comme Il Faut, representing the fabulous line of Narcotique de Muze II. Other fillies are leading back to world famous families, such as Van ‘t Roosakker, Klapscheut, Van ‘t Merelsnest and Van de Bisschop. The damlines of Fragance de Chalu, Centa de Muze, Spruce Meadows Grand Prix winner Candy and Anoeska van de Ruitershoeve – dam of six Grand Prix horses – are represented as well in this collection. With six foals, Emerald is the leading sire in the collection, followed by Chacco Blue (5), Heartbreaker (4), Diamant de Semilly (4) and Balou du Reventon (3).
“Beforehand we can often sense which foal will become the auction top-seller, but this time we have no clue so far. Multiple foals could become the most wanted in this auction. We are very much looking forward to the auction and are especially looking forward to organize the auction at such a fantastic location. The first sneak peeks we have seen online, the show seems to be nothing short of perfection. It will be a spectacular event at the Equestrian Cup!”

Flanders Foal Auction maakt zich op voor Equestrian Cup: “Pedigrees nóg sterker”
De lat ligt al hoog bij Flanders Foal Auction, maar als je uitgenodigd wordt om een veulenveiling te organiseren tijdens de Equestrian Cup, het gloednieuwe internationale CSI4* concours in Moerzeke, dan moet je zeker met iets aparts komen. De klasse die de Equestrian Cup zal uitstralen op ruiters en bezoekers, zal weerspiegeld worden in een ongekende veilingavond op zaterdag 22 juli op het terrein van de Sea Coast Stables van Gudrun Patteet en Alain Cloet.
Flanders Foal Auction heeft 37 springveulens geselecteerd, waarbij het hele verhaal van A tot Z klopt. Een veelbelovende pedigree, fantastische modellen en een atletische galop. “We verwachten er veel van”, laten Luk Van Puymbroeck en Gerald Lenaerts weten. “De organisatie wil kwaliteit en de fokkers hebben hun beste veulens laten zien.”
Tijdens de eerste Flanders veiling werd de collectie beloond met een gemiddelde prijs van 24.300 euro. “Dat waren al fantastische veulens, maar ik denk dat de pedigrees nu nóg sterker zijn”, verklapt Gerald Lenaerts. “Een ding is zeker: Als hengstenhouders hier niets kunnen vinden, dan kunnen ze nergens wat vinden.”
Er zit van alles bij voor de hengstenopfok (en topsport in de toekomst), waaronder fantastische Heartbreaker-zonen. Zo komt er één uit de moeder van medaillemachine H&M All-In en een ander uit dezelfde moeder als Emerald van ’t Ruytershof. Of wat te denken van een Chacco Blue-hengst uit de 1.50m springmerrie Kirby de Muze (Nabab de Reve). “Wij veilden al twee embryo’s uit Kirby voor 90.000 en 82.000 euro. In september werd er elders een Emerald-dochter uit Kirby geveild voor 300.000 euro.”
De merrieveulens zullen ook volop in de aandacht staan. 1.60m Grand Prix-merrie Sterrehof’s Ushi levert bijvoorbeeld een Comme il Faut en daarmee wordt de Narcotique de Muze II-lijn vertegenwoordigd. De Roosakker-, Klapscheut-, Merelsnest en Vd Bisschop stammen zijn erbij, de lijn van Fragance de Chalus en Centa de Muze, maar ook die van Spruce Meadows GP-winnares Candy en Anoeska van de Ruitershoeve, moeder van zes Grand Prix-nakomelingen. Emerald is topaanvoerder met 6 veulens, gevolgd door Chacco Blue (5), Heartbreaker (4), Diamant de Semilly (4) en Balou du Reventon (3).
“Van tevoren hebben we vaak wel een gevoel welk veulen de veilingtopper kan gaan worden, maar we hebben dit keer echt geen idee. Het kunnen er meerdere zijn. We hebben er in elk geval zin in en kijken uit om op die fantastische locatie te veilen. Wat we online aan beeld voorbij hebben zien komen, straalt werkelijk perfectie uit. Het gaat mooi zijn op de Equestrian Cup!”
De veulencollectie is inmiddels gelanceerd en hier te bekijken. Wie alle veulens bestudeerd heeft, kan nog doorklikken naar de veulencollectie voor de Flanders Foal Auction op zaterdag 29 juli in Duitsland. Het team veilt die dag voor de tweede keer op de locatie van Holger Hetzel in Goch.
