Flanders Foal Auction heads to Peelbergen at full strength
What more does Flanders Foal Auction have in store for the upcoming auction season after its sensational kickoff last weekend at Sentower Park? “Once again, a very strong collection is set for Peelbergen,” preview Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts as they look ahead to the second foal auction of the year, taking place on Saturday evening, June 28.
While Olympic showjumping mare Ornellaia (For Pleasure) fetched €136,000 last Saturday and her filly sold for €66,000, the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre auction will once again open with an international showjumping mare and her foal. “The owner is retiring from horses, but she told us, ‘If there was one I would have kept, it would’ve been Havana M.’ We’re honored to auction her,” says Gerald Lenaerts.
Winner in Aachen
Havana M (Verdi x Cardento), born in Brazil, won the Youngster Tour Cup at CHIO Aachen with Yuri Mansur and competed up to 1.50m level with Sienna Charles before sustaining an injury. She is an outstanding mare with quality, bred out of the half-sister of 1.60m Grand Prix horse Ferrari M, ridden by Brazil’s André Fonseca Moura. Her colt Tour de Force Z is by Tattoo TN, whose dam was sold through Flanders Foal Auction.
‘Very strong collection’
“For Peelbergen, we don’t have foals out of globally famous mares like the Cornet Obolensky out of Azur HH that sold for €88,000 on Saturday, but we do offer a very strong collection with sixteen colts and sixteen fillies. Five of these foals are out of mares that competed at 1.50m to 1.60m Grand Prix level, and two more are bred out of 1.45m level showjumping mares. The pedigrees are steeped in top sport, and the foals themselves reflect this. Excellent models, athletic and a strong canter.”

Flanders Foal Auction op volle sterkte naar Peelbergen
Wat heeft Flanders Foal Auction nog meer in petto voor komend veilingseizoen na de sensationele aftrap afgelopen weekend op Sentower Park? “Opnieuw een zeer sterke collectie in de breedte voor op Peelbergen”, blikken Luk Van Puymbroeck en Gerald Lenaerts vooruit naar de tweede veulenveiling van het jaar op zaterdagavond 28 juni.
Bracht olympisch springpaard Ornellaia (For Pleasure) afgelopen zaterdag 136.000 euro op en haar merrieveulen 66.000 euro, op Peelbergen Equestrian Centre wordt er opnieuw geopend met een internationale springmerrie en haar veulen. “De eigenaresse stopt met de paarden, maar zei: ‘Als ik er één had willen houden, dan was het Havana M geweest.’ Ook haar mogen we veilen”, vertelt Gerald Lenaerts.
Winnares in Aken

Een fantastische kwaliteitsvolle merrie uit een halfzus van het 1.60m Grand Prix-paard Ferrari M met André Fonseca Moura uit Brazilië. Haar hengstveulen Tour de Force Z stamt af van Tattoo TN, waarvan de moeder geveild is door Flanders Foal Auction.
‘Zeer sterke collectie’
“We hebben voor Peelbergen geen veulens uit echt beroemde merries, zoals de Cornet Obolensky uit Azur HH die zaterdag 88.000 euro opbracht, maar het is wel een zeer sterke collectie met zestien hengstveulens en zestien merrieveulens. Vijf veulens komen bijvoorbeeld uit merries die 1.50 tot 1.60m Grand Prix sprongen, twee komen uit 1.45m springmerries. De pedigrees zijn doordrenkt met topsport en de veulens zelf lijken er ook op. Goede modellen, atletisch en zeer goed galopperen.”
