April highlights: Flanders references back in the results

April brought another month of strong performances from horses sold in the Flanders Foal & Embryo Auction. From promising young horses making their mark at 1.30m level to experienced names competing at the highest level, our references continued to appear across the international show jumping scene.

The month got off to a flying start in Arezzo, where Ding Dong van Overis Z (Diamant de Semilly) finished third at 1.40m level with Dutch rider Bart Lips on 2 April. Just one day later, Belgian rider Leonie Peeters and Kameroen EB Z (Kannan) claimed an impressive second place at 1.50m level in Arezzo, earning €8,000.

The results kept coming throughout the month. On 11 April in Bonheiden, Clair Z (Cornet Obolensky) and Zara Poelsfinished fourth at 1.40m level, adding another solid result to the list. In Nancy, Byblosh-K van Kattenheye Z (Bamako de Muze) showed his potential on 16 April, winning at 1.30m level with German rider Johannes Ehning.

The following week brought another busy period for the Flanders references. In Chard, Entertainer van Overis Z (Emerald van ’t Ruytershof) finished third at 1.30m level with British rider Gemma Wright.

Meanwhile, back in Deurne, Ding Dong van Overis Z returned to the top of the results sheet. Ridden by Bart Lips, the Diamant de Semilly son won at 1.40m level on 23 April. A second strong result for the pair in April.

There was also plenty to celebrate in Opglabbeek, where Camille van Twelve Oaks Z (Comme il Faut) proved to be a real winner. With British rider Abbe Burchmore-Eames, the 2019-born mare won at 1.30m level on both 23 and 24 April. Two days, two victories.

At the other end of the scale, Rossi vd Heffinck (Diamant de Semilly) took on one of April’s biggest challenges in Fontainebleau. With Irish rider Mark McAuley, the nine-year-old stallion competed at 1.55m level and finished 15th in a highly competitive class. The month was rounded off in Oliva, where Oliver’s Twinkeling (Cardento) and Spanish rider Elisabeth Goyoaga finished sixth at 1.40m level.

April was another month full of promising performances, and we’ll be keeping an eye on where these references pop up next!
