17 countries purchase foals at 2nd Flanders Foal Auction of the year
One of the unique aspects of organising a foal auction is that no two editions are ever the same. On Saturday, July 4, Flanders Foal Auction returned to Sentower Park, this time for the first time during the international youth show. Young riders looking to secure future talent competed with online bidders from around the world. The result was a complete sell-out, with all 34 foals presented (one was absent) finding new owners at an average price of €20,060. Topping the auction at €44,000 was the striking Appaloosa-coloured Jaxx CT Z (J-Nius V.V. Z).
"This auction had a completely different atmosphere from the previous one, but once again it was a very successful edition," said Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts. "The average price was strong and every breeder succeeded in selling their foal, just as they did at our previous auction. We also achieved a new record by selling the 34 foals to buyers in 17 different countries. Most will remain in Europe, but we also welcomed buyers from Guatemala, Saudi Arabia and the United States."
Ten foals were purchased by buyers attending the auction at Sentower Park, while four were sold via telephone bidding. The remaining 20 foals were secured by online buyers, once again demonstrating the power of the internet and the global reach of Flanders Foal Auction.
The most eye-catching entry of the evening was Jaxx CT Z (J-Nius V.V. Z x Ustinov), presented in a memorable way by his breeder and long-time Flanders stable team member Caitlin Teunissen. Riding the colt's dam into the arena without a saddle, she was followed closely by Jaxx CT Z. The hammer fell at €44,000, with the colourful colt set to move to Germany in the future.
Impressionata Z (Impress van 't Kattenheye), a granddaughter of the legendary broodmare and World Cup mare Qerly Chin was sold to the United States for €40,000, making her a valuable investment for the future.
Two filly foals reached €30,000: Dream Touch van 't Vossenhof (United Touch S x Heartbreaker), which was sold to Guatemala, and Exquis Key Z (Emerald x Bentley van de Heffinck), which will head to Germany. The colt Espresso van Overis Z (Ermitage Kalone x Darco) realised €28,000 and will continue his future in France.
The Flanders Foal Auction team will cross the border for its next auction, which will take place on Saturday, July 25, at Holger Hetzel Stables in Goch, Germany. The new collection will be available to view online soon.
17 landen kopen in op tweede Flanders Foal Auction van het jaar
Het bijzondere aan het organiseren van een veulenveiling, is dat geen enkele editie hetzelfde is. Flanders Foal Auction streek zaterdag 4 juli opnieuw neer op Sentower Park, maar dit keer voor het eerst tijdens het internationaal jeugdweekend. Jeugdruiters die wat voor de toekomst wilden vastleggen namen het op tegen online bieders. Het resultaat is dat alle 34 veulens – één was afwezig – verkocht werden voor een gemiddelde prijs van 20.060 euro. De veilingtopper met 44.000 euro was de Appaloosa kleurige Jaxx CT Z (J-Nius V.V. Z).
“We hadden een heel andere veiling dan afgelopen keer, maar wel weer opnieuw een goede. Dit is een stevige gemiddelde prijs en elke fokker heeft kunnen verkopen, net als de vorige keer. We hebben bovendien een nieuw record behaald. Dat is dat we de 34 veulens naar 17 verschillende landen hebben verkocht. De meeste blijven binnen Europa, maar we hadden ook weer kopers uit Quatemala, Saudi-Arabië en Amerika”, vertellen Luk Van Puymbroeck en Gerald Lenaerts.
Het publiek op Sentower Park wist tien veulens vast te leggen. Vier werden over de telefoon verkocht. De andere twintig hadden een online koper en dat illustreert weer de kracht van internet en het wereldwijde bereik van Flanders Foal Auction.
De meeste opvallende verschijning was Jaxx CT Z (J-Nius V.V. Z x Ustinov), die op een bijzondere manier werd voorgesteld door zijn fokster en vaste Flanders (stal)medewerkster Caitlin Teunissen. Zonder zadel reed ze zijn moeder de ring in en Jaxx CT Z volgde hen op de voet. Bij 44.000 euro viel de hamer en daarmee verhuist het Appaloosa kleurige veulen in de toekomst naar Duitsland.
Voor 40.000 euro werd Impressionata Z (Impress van ’t Kattenheye) verkocht naar Amerika. Een waardevolle investering, aangezien het een kleindochter is van de invloedrijke fokmerrie Qerly Chin, die zelf World Cups sprong.
Twee merrieveulens brachten 30.000 euro op. De naar Quatemala verkochte Dream Touch van ’t Vossenhof (United Touch S x Heartbreaker) en de naar Duitsland verkochte Exquis Key Z (Emerald x Bentley vd Heffinck). Met 28.000 euro verhuist het hengstveulen Espresso van Overis Z (Ermitage Kalone x Darco) naar Frankrijk.
Voor de volgende Flanders Foal Auction gaat het team de landsgrenzen over, want deze vindt op zaterdag 25 juli plaats op Holger Hetzel Stables in het Duitse Goch. De nieuwe collectie zal snel online te bekijken zijn.
