The Flanders Foal Auction has start a new initiative: the Flanders Embryo Auction. For the first time an online embryo auction will be broadcast live from CSI3* Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on February 10.
"The Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club, located fifteen minutes from Dubai, will offer its members the opportunity to purchase unique breeding material from Belgium to play an important role in the future in professional show jumping," says Luk Van Puymbroeck, who is the driving force behind the Flanders Foal Auction together with Koen Terryn and Gerald Lenaerts. The ambition of the auction organization is to put the embryo auction on the map.
From hotel to CSI3 *
"It has been two years since our test to broadcast the Flanders Foal Auction via live streaming in a hotel in Sharjah, with the result that the interest was piqued of the owner / operator of the Sharjah International Show jumping. This year, the first embryo auction will not be broadcast in a hotel, but will take place during the CSI3f* Sharjah."
Sibling Flora de Mariposa
Together with presenting partner Lebeau-Courally the Flanders Embryo Auction offers a unique collection of 21 embryos with exceptional performance bloodlines. For example, there are embryos for sale from the half-sister of Olympic champion Big Star, the full sister of the Olympic stallion Arko III, the dam of 1.60m Grand Prix horse Utopia van Donkhoeve and the dam of 1.60m show jumper Primeval Dejavu . As icing on the cake the future full sister or brother of the top horse Flora de Mariposa (For Pleasure), who is very successful with Pénélope Leprevost, will be auctioned.
The embryos that are sold, can stay in Belgium and can remain there for a fee up to three years "So people from all over the world can buy a top embryo without having to care for the mare and foal. The embryos are insured up to the day they go to the buyer, "says Luk Van Puymbroeck.
View the collection on www.flandersfoalauction.be. The auction will start on Friday, February 10th at 13.30 Brussels time, which will be 16.30 local time in Sharjah (UAE). Those who register at least 48 hours in advance on www.equinia.com will be able to bid online from anywhere in the world. Telephone bidding is also possible. The auction will be broadcast live from Sharjah by www.clipmyhorse.com, interspersed with video footage of the sire, dam or relatives of the embryos.
Beside this new challenge the two Flanders Foal Auctions in Belgium remain on the agenda: Saturday, June 24 at CSI3 * Jumping Bonheiden and Thursday, September 21 at Sentowerpark in Opglabbeek.
