Flanders Foal Auction: ‘Too special to miss’

The final Flanders Foal Auction of the year is just around the corner, and it promises to be another remarkable event. With 42 jumping foals on offer, the selection is larger than ever. "But the collection is so strong, we had to include them all because each foal has something special," say Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts. The auction will take place on Saturday evening, September 14, at Sentower Park.

There are many unique foals, even featuring rare colors such as pinto and appaloosa. However, it is the pedigrees, conformation and movement that truly stand out. Of the 42 foals, the majority are fillies (22 in total). Leading sire is Chacco Blue, with nine foals (including seven fillies). Following are Balou du Reventon (four foals) and Ermitage Kalone, Heartbreaker, Emerald, and Diarado, each represented by three offspring.

This collection has the potential to elevate your showjumping stable or breeding program. In fact, six of the foals are out of mares that have jumped at 1.50m level or higher.

Among the highlights are a Chacco Blue filly from the dam of the 1.70m Grand Prix horse Venard de Cerisy (ridden by Steve Guerdat), a full brother to the Olympic stallion Uricas vd Kattevennen (ridden by Harrie Smolders), a London foal from the full sister of Don Juan vd Donkhoeve (1.70m GP with Jessica Springsteen), a Heartbreaker foal out of Goldika de Laubry (1.50m GP), an Emerald filly out of the same dam as Olympic horse Nevados S (ridden by Gregory Wathelet) and a Cornet Obolensky foal from the half-sister of Martin Fuchs' former top horse Clooney 51 (Cornet Obolensky), winner of the European Championship, vice-world champion and runner-up in the World Cup final.

The list is too long to name them all, but notable bloodlines are well represented, including those of Qerly Chin, Centa de Muze, Spruce Meadows winner Candy, Emerald, Panama du Seigneur, Ligie, Casall, Winningmood, Clinton and Big Star.

Flanders Foal Auction: ‘Te speciaal om niet mee te pakken’

Het is de laatste Flanders Foal Auction van het jaar en het belooft weer een bijzondere veiling te worden. Met 42 springveulens is de keuze groter dan ooit. “Maar het is zo’n sterke collectie, we moesten ze allemaal wel meepakken want ze hebben stuk voor stuk iets speciaals”, vertellen Luk Van Puymbroeck en Gerald Lenaerts. Op zaterdagavond 14 september worden ze geveild op Sentower Park.

Aparte veulens zijn er dus. Zelfs met aparte kleuren zoals bont en appaloosa, maar het zijn de pedigrees, modellen en bewegingen die de doorslag geven. De merrieveulens (22) zijn in de meerderheid. Hoofdaanvoerder is Chacco Blue met negen veulens (waaronder zeven merrieveulens). Dan volgen Balou du Reventon (vier) en Ermitage Kalone, Heartbreaker, Emerald en Diarado met elk drie nakomelingen.

Het is een collectie waarmee je je springstal of fokkerij kan versterken. Zes veulens komen zelfs uit een merrie die 1.50m of hoger heeft gesprongen.

Tot de highlights behoren een Chacco Blue-merrieveulen uit de moeder van het 1.70m Grand Prix-paard Venard de Cerisy (Steve Guerdat), een volle broer van de olympische hengst Uricas vd Kattevennen (Harrie Smolders), een London uit de volle zus van Don Juan vd Donkhoeve (1.70m GP met Jessica Springsteen), een Heartbreaker uit Goldika de Laubry (1.50m GP), een Emerald merrieveulen uit dezelfde moeder als olympisch springpaard Nevados S (Gregory Wathelet) en een Cornet Obolensky uit de halfzus van Martin Fuch’s voormalige toppaard Clooney 51 (Cornet Obolensky), winnaar van het Europees kampioenschap, vice-wereldkampioen en tweede in de wereldbekerfinale.

De lijst is te lang om op te noemen, maar de bekende stammen zijn er in elk geval bij. Die van Qerly Chin, Centa de Muze, Spruce Meadows winnares Candy, Emerald, Panama du Seigneur, Ligie, Casall, Winningmood, Clinton en Big Star.
